Coral Gables real estate guide: prices, pros & cons, risks
The “City Beautiful”: Mediterranean architecture, banyan-lined streets, top private schools and the University of Miami. Mostly single-family homes with strict design codes.
Living in Coral Gables
Planned in the 1920s by George Merrick, Coral Gables is known as “The City Beautiful”: Mediterranean Revival architecture, canopy trees, fountains and landmarks such as the Biltmore Hotel and the Venetian Pool. Miracle Mile and downtown Gables offer restaurants and shops, and the University of Miami anchors the south of the city.
It is one of Miami's most sought-after addresses thanks to its schools, parks and quiet residential streets.
Coral Gables real estate
Single-family homes dominate — from 1920s historic houses to modern new builds and waterfront estates with boat access to Biscayne Bay. Condos and townhomes are concentrated downtown.
What to know
Coral Gables has strict architectural and landscaping codes, and renovations to historic properties require extra approvals. That protects values, but it matters if you plan to renovate or expand — I help you check what's allowed before you commit.
