Where to live in Miami and South Florida

The right area depends on how you live, not on a ranking. Use this page to narrow the list, then compare building by building.

If you want city life

Brickell, Edgewater and Wynwood put you near offices, restaurants and nightlife, with towers and walkable streets. Expect parking costs, traffic and construction noise.

If you want the beach

Miami Beach and Sunny Isles Beach are oceanfront, Hollywood and Hallandale Beach give beach access at wider prices. Oceanfront buildings carry higher HOA and insurance.

If you want a family home

Coral Gables, Doral, Pembroke Pines and Boca Raton offer houses and quieter streets. Check schools for the exact address, not the city average.

If you want calm and services

Aventura combines shopping, medical care and bay views, and many buyers choose it for a quieter pace close to the beach.

How to decide

List your three must-haves, set a monthly limit including HOA, tax and insurance, and visit at different times of day. Then request a comparison from your agent.
