Hollywood real estate guide: prices, pros & cons, risks
The Broadwalk — about 2.5 miles of beachfront promenade — plus a lively downtown and quieter residential streets inland. More space for the money, about 20 minutes to FLL.
Living in Hollywood
Hollywood sits in south Broward County between Hallandale Beach and Dania Beach. Its signature is the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk, a car-free promenade of roughly 2.5 miles lined with cafés, bike lanes and small hotels. Inland, Downtown Hollywood and ArtsPark at Young Circle host restaurants, markets and events.
The city is well connected: Fort Lauderdale–Hollywood International Airport and Port Everglades are close, and I-95 and US-1 run straight through.
Hollywood real estate
Hollywood offers one of the widest choices in South Florida: beachfront and Intracoastal condos, historic homes in Hollywood Lakes, larger mid-century and renovated houses in Emerald Hills and Hollywood Hills, and newer townhomes further west. Compared with Miami-Dade beach cities you often get more space for the same budget.
What to check
Near the water, flood zone and elevation directly affect insurance cost — I pull FEMA flood maps and insurance quotes early. For houses, roof age, wind-mitigation features and permits for past renovations matter as much as the kitchen finish.
